Moving Ahead
Yesterday I moved from a small apartment that my daughter often referred to as a doll house into a comfy single family home. I am grateful for the increase and freedom that comes with it; however, in the transition I was a little overwhelmed navigating the new space, trying to figure out where everything would go, making space for new things, and letting go of old things that no longer served a purpose in the new space. As I looked around this unfamiliar place and I saw my life scattered about in boxes and totes two emotions gripped me; I had the opportunity to respond in one of two ways. I could have easily been overtaken and given up on the process of change holding on to the things that no longer served a purpose or I could have taken a deep breath and embraced the process of moving forward and making room for what I needed and desired in this new season understanding all would not be lost. I chose the latter! Not only did I choose to make room but I am choosing to take my time and enjoy the transition.
Often times God enlarges our territory, gives us increase, new opportunities, and transition us into the greater but we enter in with baggage that no longer serves a purpose in the new season. Mark 2:22 talks about putting old wine into new wineskin and how doing so will burst the skin and the wine is lost. In transitioning to a new season, let us let go of the things that no longer serve a purpose. Let us grab hold to the things that will edify us and purpose us to edify and build up others. Also, let us remember those things that kept us in the last season and utilize it to propel us in the new!
